The Comedic Skills of Shakespeare and Sid Caesar Come Together for the First Time in Madison

by Leila Fletcher, age 12

Will and Sid Ride Again is a medley of comic scenes and sketches from the 1590s and the 1950s. The scenes are from William Shakespeare and Sid Caesar. This is the second time a show of this kind will be performed at Young Shakespeare Players.

Each Shakespeare scene will be paired up with a Sid Caesar sketch, and the pair will revolve around the same theme, to show that life hasn't changed as much as we think it has across the centuries.

Sadly, Sid Caesar, one of the greatest comedians of the past century, who brought comedy to a greater audience through the medium of television, passed away just last month, on February 12. Young Shakespeare Players is dedicating this production, the only live presentation of Sid Caesar's sketches in the world, to his memory.

Come and see the works of these great masters played by actors ages 7 to 19 at the Young Shakespeare Players playhouse at 1806 West Lawn Avenue on Saturdays, March 22 and 29 at 6:00 pm and Sundays, March 23 and 30 at 1:00 pm. Performances are free as always at Young Shakespeare Players.
