Patrick Levon Mahomes is a 29-year-old football player who recently became the second highest-paid player in the National Football League (NFL). Mahomes was drafted in 2017 as a quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs and has won not one, not two, but three Super Bowls!Mahomes was born to Pat Mahomes Sr. and Randi Mahomes on September 17, 1995, in Tyler, Texas. His father is Black, and his mother is White. His younger brother, Jackson Mahomes, is a social media star with over 1 million followers on TikTok. Patrick is not the only athlete in his family. His dad, Pat Mahomes Sr., was a professional Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher, playing for 11 years with teams such as the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates. The family would often live in hotels or apartments while traveling with his dad during the MLB seasons.

By his junior year of high school at Whitehouse High School, Mahomes excelled in multiple sports, including football, baseball, and basketball. He threw for 50 passing touchdowns and was also a standout baseball pitcher. Many people thought he would follow in his father’s footsteps and play professional baseball. In fact, he was even drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 2014 MLB Draft but chose not to sign.

During his sophomore year at Texas Tech University, Mahomes initially played both baseball and football. However, he decided to quit baseball to focus solely on football, a decision that ultimately led him to NFL stardom.

Although Mahomes had a difficult choice between baseball and football, in the end, he became highly successful. He has always been a strong player, continuously improving and inspiring others. In February 2020, he played in his first Super Bowl (Super Bowl LIV) against the San Francisco 49ers. The final score was 31-20, ending in a win for the Kansas City Chiefs. Mahomes was named Super Bowl MVP for his performance.

Later that year, Mahomes signed a 10-year contract extension worth up to $503 million, making it one of the largest contracts in professional sports history. In February 2021, he returned to the Super Bowl but faced a tough loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV.

Despite the challenges, Mahomes continued to shine. He led the Chiefs to another Super Bowl victory in 2023 (Super Bowl LVII) against the Philadelphia Eagles, and in 2024 (Super Bowl LVIII), he secured his third Super Bowl title with a win over the San Francisco 49ers again.
