Milos Kerkez made headlines when he signed for Liverpool F.C. this past June. He has been called one of the brightest young prospects in world soccer, and his career up to now shows a lot of promise.
At the young age of 15, he had a hard-core work ethic. He was constantly in the gym and spent as much time as he could practicing on the field. He had some shortcomings, like criticizing his teammates when it was not his place, but when the issue was brought up by coaches, he fixed his attitude.
Milos Kerkez started his career at FC Gyor in Hungary. What stood out was his personality. Trainers and coaches said he was energetic, would play aggressively, and worked towards getting better. He was eventually paired with a mentor, and he refined his technique. He had and has a lot of potential: his courage, his explosiveness and agility, and most importantly, his strong will to win made him a game changer on the field. He loved to win and selfishly wanted the game to be about him. He eventually grew out of that mindset, so it would not hold him back.
At Gyor, he transitioned from a midfielder to a left-back so he would have a better chance of making better teams. After switching positions, he made it to the first team at just 16. Eventually, Maldini, one of the greatest left-backs of all time and a partial owner of Milan, had an interest in having him transfer to his team.
He transferred to Milan, but his playing time was quite limited, so he decided to transfer again. He moved to AZ Alkmaar in January of 2022, making 57 appearances in his 18 months at the club. The sporting director for Alkmaar said “he is the total package” and “he was going to excel in the Premier League,” hinting at what was to come.
After Kerkez moved to AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League, he became one of the best in the league. He started every league game. For Kerkez, moving to Bournemouth was a good career move. It helped him get recognized more and then have more offers from other clubs. He became relevant and established a good reputation.
Moving to Liverpool meant Milos had big shoes to fill. Liverpool has Andy Robertson, who is considered the best left-back in Premier League history. He established that over eight seasons at Liverpool. Recently, though, he has started to slow down with age, giving reason to bring in a 21-year-old Kerkez. Robertson became a mentor for Kerkez, helping him become one of the best.
After Kerkez’s 40-million-Euro transfer, he is expected to hit the ground running. He is good enough for big teams like Liverpool to sign him, and he just needs to show he can perform at the top level. He is super-fast and physical, giving him an advantage over other players on the edge of the field. He is exactly what Liverpool wants and needs.
Liverpool has just won the Premier League, and they are trying to defend their title. One of the steps is signing Kerkez. Going to Liverpool will bring out the best in him. Keep an eye out for Liverpool games so you can hopefully see Milos meet and surpass expectations. He is only 21, and he has years to improve and reach his full potential, so many people expect him to become one of the best in the world.
