The Green Bay Packers recently entered a partnership with Wisconsin-based retailer Batteries Plus. Through this partnership, Batteries Plus is trying hopes to increase the recycling of batteries. They say putting batteries in the trash is easy, but recycling is a far better idea.
Wisconsin-based Batteries Plus stores will be accepting used batteries free of charge. These batteries will be deconstructed, and all the minerals will be recycled and used again. The Green Bay Packers will be encouraging fans to promote this program and donate used batteries.
This program will be paid for in part with $7 million from the Department of Energy. Wisconsin schools are eligible to participate in the battery contest to encourage battery recycling. The winners will get to visit Lambeau Field.
Used batteries can be dropped off at Batteries Plus stores. The first Batteries Plus store was located in Green Bay and the company now has 720 sites nationwide. There are 28 in Wisconsin, including the metro Green Bay area. Staples is helping Batteries Plus to collect even more batteries.
This initiative is an important cause for Batteries Plus. Their goal is to help people recycle batteries and encourage Packers fans to donate used batteries and support this organization.
