The Nintendo Switch Gets an OLED Upgrade
by Amare Smith, age 17
Have you ever enjoyed playing on the Nintendo Switch? Well, in the fall of 2021 Nintendo released the brand new Nintendo Switch OLED. This gaming handheld console is an improved version of the original Nintendo Switch which was initially released in March of 2017.
The Nintendo Switch OLED performs similarly to the original Nintendo Switch except for a few new features. The OLED uses a slightly bigger screen, with a 0.32-inch size difference from the original. Aside from size, another difference is the OLED screen gives improved color brightness and image quality. It even has a bigger and sturdier kickstand on the back. It has a dock, but instead of using a USB port for connection, there’s a LAN port. Users can play on the OLED as usual, such as on a TV, as a handheld, or even on its kickstand and use its detachable joy-cons. This new device will also have backward compatibility that allows users to play games from the older versions of the Nintendo Switch.
The device will give more glamorous and darker colors by using an OLED panel. The Nintendo Switch OLED will cost around $350 and is now available to purchase as it was released in October of 2021. Here’s a tip: to make the battery life last longer, try not to make as many adjustments on the Nintendo Switch OLED. Also, charging the Switch while playing would be a great idea too. Have fun gaming!
