Protect the Red Panda

Did you know that red pandas are only about two feet tall?

Their scientific name is ailluru fulguns, meaning “reddish-brown old world raccoon- like carnivore.” Red pandas can weigh up to 20 pounds and have a life span of up to eight years.

Red Pandas live in the high altitude forests of Central China, Nepal, and Northern Myanmar (Burma.) They spend most of their time in trees, and are more active at night.

Their diet is not entirely herbivore, so they could be considered omnivores. They eat bamboo, and unlike their large relatives, Red Pandas also eat fruit, acorns, roots, and eggs. These animals are currently at risk of extinction because of deforestation.

Red pandas are unique and should be protected.
