Have you heard the song “What does the fox say?” Well, you came to the right place.
Foxes are a part of the Canidae family. Dogs, wolves, and coyotes are members of this family as well. Foxes are small to medium sized and eat small reptiles and birds. They live up to two to three years, although some may live up to ten. Their diet can include eggs, plants, and insects.
Foxes do not often attack humans. They eat chickens and other small animals, which often makes them seem like pests. Foxes adapt well with cities, because they can find food and places to live.
Foxes don’t always have packs, though they are often depicted this way. The arctic fox is known to be solitary, meaning it hunts alone. Most species of fox consume about 2.2 pounds of food every day. When foxes hunt, they grip on the prey’s neck and shake it until its death.
Fox hunting with dogs started in the 16th century in the United Kingdom. Today, people can’t hunt foxes with dogs but they are permitted to hunt without dogs.
Foxes are very interesting creatures with unique skill and traits! I hope you learned more about foxes and won’t be scared next time you see one in the wild.
