Have you ever heard of or experienced a U.F.O. sighting? Cheryl Costa and Linda Miller Costa, authors of “U.F.O. Sightings Desk Reference,” do believe U.F.O.'s are real. They say that there have been so many sightings that they cannot be fake. Studies show that most sightings happen in the summer in the western states of the USA, such as California.
What would it be like to be one of the people who saw a U.F.O.? Imagine how a man in Tribeca, a neighborhood in New York City reacted to seeing a U.F.O. It happened on September 17, 2011. He was on a roof at the New Museum in New York. In a split second he saw a diamond-shaped object with lights that lit up the sky. He came to the conclusion that it was a U.F.O.
Those who sight U.F.O.'s should report them to one of these national organizations: Mufon or Nuforc. Mufon stands for Mutual U.F.O. Network and Nuforc stands for National U.F.O. Reporting Center. They both collect data about U.F.O.'s. They are volunteer organizations that provide U.F.O. information to the public.
U.F.O. sightings seem to be more common in western America. This may be because more people are outside when it is warm, and it is almost always warm in states such as California and Arizona. However, in some cases, what were thought to be U.F.O.'s have been explained: for example nearly 8 percent of the 230 sightings in Indiana were fireballs.
U.F.O. sightings can be a rare occurrence, but if you are lucky enough to see one, be sure to report it and stay safe!
